Biography and performances

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy is probably one of the oldest players on this list (born in 1966). His tournament earnings total over $8 million. He has won 2 WSOP bracelets, his first in 2005 at a $1,500 Seven-Card Stud event and another in 2013 at the $3,000 No Limit Hold'em Shootout for a cash win of nearly $300,000. In 2016, he could be seen on the final table of the WSOP Main Event as he finished 3rd for his biggest score ever, a purse of $3,453,03.

Live player, but also online

Josephy also plays online poker under the pseudonym "JohnnyBax". On several occasions, he was the best player in online tournaments. His pseudonym often appeared on sites that record the performances of online tournament players at various sites. In 2005 and 2006, he was one of the biggest winners in online high-stakes tournaments. At the time, he was considered the best online tournament player in the world. He was also a coach for the now-defunct PokerXFactor website. He was often seen with his collaborator Eric Haber. Speaking of Haber, the two of them also had a business in which they "staked" talented players, in other words, they would lend or give the buy-in to a talented player in exchange for a share of the money he or she would win. For them, this venture was a success. To name just one example, when Joe Cada won the WSOP main event in 2009, he had been 100% bankrolled by Haber and Josephy in exchange for 50% of his winnings.

Cliff Josephy is still active in 2023

Josephy still plays poker. He has recently been seen in major tournaments at the WSOP and World Poker Tour Las Vegas. At the WSOP 2023, he managed to win 2 paid places.
